Customer Reviews: Very well written investigationDecember 6, 2004 E. Hazeldene 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have found this book very interesting... I was slightly deterred by the price but decided to take a chance and I am delighted to say it was a great investment. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is an investigation into how females can utilize punk-lifestyle as a resistance strategy against the ultimately degrading 'game of femininity'. Leblanc does cover a fair bit of punk history and music in the book, certainly enough to cement her points and explain the many different facets to the subculture - but this book is definitely more suitable for those whose interest lies just as much, if not more heavily, in sociology and/or feminism than punk.
A very interesting, well-written study. If your interest lies in sociology then buy this. If your interest lies more in the actual subculture of punk than the sociological side of it, then I would still consider it worth a read, but perhaps not so worth it at this price.
